Where is Ghana? Geography/Climate
Ghana is located in tropical Western Africa, with Togo to the east, Cote d'Ivoire to the west, and Burkina Faso to the north.
Ghana is comprised of ten different regions, each which has it's own regional capital. I was in the Volta Region, just south of the regional capital, Ho. |
The regions all differ in multiple ways, from economy base and language, to landscape and climate. While the northern part of Ghana is generally flat and a bit dry, the southern part of Ghana is hilly and even mountainous in some regions (such as Volta, where I was).
|
Similar to the Midwest, Ghana also has different seasons, though they differ in nature and length. Throughout all of Ghana, there is a rainy season for a significant part of the year. In Northern Ghana, there is only one rainy season that lasts from about April until September. The Southern part of Ghana has two rainy seasons: a 'major' season from April through July, and a 'minor' season from September through November.
